Listen to Mike and Laura discuss a change to the ShowBizRadio audition system [MP3 2:37 768K].

Mike: We just wanted to take this opportunity to talk about the auditions listing on our website.

Laura: When we started ShowBizRadio.net we couldn’t find a concise place that listed all of the auditions in the DC Metro area. So we put one up ourselves.

Mike: What we do is we go through the different websites of all the community theaters and some of the professional theaters in the area. We are also on several different mailing lists. We hired a programmer to give us a system to manage the dates and the schedules. We take all that information and we put it into the website so that you can easily see at one glance all of the auditions in the area.

Laura: Unfortunately last week we had a date wrong for one of our auditions and someone who wanted to try out for a play, missed the audition because the date was wrong. We have revamped things a little bit.

Mike: We used to have everything on our website. If you go to http://washingtondc.showbizradio.com/auditions/, you would get a master list of all the auditions from today on into the future. Then when you click on the title of one of the shows you would get a page on ShowBizRadio.net that would have the details, a couple paragraphs about the show of what they were looking for for auditions. That was about it. Sometimes we would link to the actual organization’s website for even more information.

We have changed that. You still go to http://washingtondc.showbizradio.com/auditions/. Then you see that master list of all the auditions. Now when you click on the title of the show, you will always go to the organization’s website for information and details about the audition. Unfortunately that does mean there will be the possibility we might have the wrong dates. But hopefully because we are linking directly to the website of each theater organization, that the person wanting to audition will see if we have an error in the dates or not.

We would like to apologize to the Elden Street Players for making a mistake on their audition listing. They did not provide the information to us. We got it off of their website sometime in 2006 and over the past few months the date had been changed. We totally missed it as we were double checking our listings. So we do apologize to them and to the person who was going to audition for the show.

Laura: If you have any questions about this feel free to email us. And now, on with the show.
