Looking Back at 2008

In 2008, there were 73,000 visitors to the ShowBizRadio.net web site, viewing 232,000 pages. Laura and I reviewed 126 shows, published 15 interviews. McCall Doyle reviewed nine shows and wrote one article. Lisa Kay Morton reviewed five shows. In November Ty Unglebower started sharing in a twice-monthly column his thoughts on life in the theater.

Laura and I made a few mistakes this year, including one major mistake that resulted in each of us completing the Continuing Studies Certificate program in Theater at the Northern Virginia Community College.

We’ve started reading through the comments entered onto our survey, and will be presenting some of those comments and our responses next week.

One comment that we have already seen from several people is that we should have more people writing reviews and other articles for the site. We agree there should be more people writing. If you’re one of those people who think there should be more people writing for us, this is your opportunity. Just let us know what you’d like to write about, and we’ll get it set up for you to write for the site.

started ShowBizRadio in August 2005 because they love live theater. They each have both performed in and worked behind the scenes in DC area productions, as well as earned a Career Studies Certificate in Theater from Northern Virginia Community College.

    I’m curious about your statement here. Perhaps I’m reading this statement incorrectly, but was it a mistake to complete your studies at NVCC, or did a previous mistake encourage you to earn your Career Studies Certificate? I think NVCC has a great theatre program! Please explain. Thanks!

    Hi Shaye,

    You’re right, I phrased that quite badly. We made a major mistake in our interactions with one theater when we were trying to be helpful. Instead of coming across as helpful, it came across to them as insulting. So, in brainstorming how to fix the problem, we decided to bite the bullet and get some formal training in theater. That was the theater certificate program at NVCC, which we’ve both completed now. Mike
