Woodrow Wilson High School’s production of West Side Story tackled this challenge head on creating an evening full of love, hope, and tragedy that ultimately conjured many tears from the audience.
In this whirlwind of a romantic tale, George Mason High School managed to perform the difficult musical Oklahoma! with plenty of humor and commitment that shone through and made a fine show.
On the whole, Briar Woods High School’s production of Nevermore! indulged a resounding heartbeat in the swirling letters of Edgar Allan Poe’s soul.
The Olney production is more than good enough to entice new audience members to come back for more and to grow to know and love these jewels of American creativity.
carried away on the crest of a wave is most certainly not a light evening out. It is very earnest in its depiction of darkness and despair.
Whether you like Shakespeare or not, this is a great play and a great way to spend an evening out.
For those with a taste for the raw power of live theater, and who don’t require a happy ending to be satisfied, Mies Julie by South African writer/director Yael Farbe is a work of art.
